OurMission
INJOY collaboration is an interdisciplinary collaboration merging the sectors of Food Innovation, Technology, Nutrition Science, Public Health, Business, Economics and Gerontology.
The aim of INJOY is three-fold structured:
- Increase awareness of the foods, dietary patterns, and behaviours associated with frailty prevention, healthy living and active ageing by cultivating collaboration among leading experts from the scientific, medical, industrial, entrepreneurial, innovative and financial sectors of Europe.
- Empower a new generation of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and innovators highly trained in translating the science of nutrition into citizen-centric health applications, products and services designed to modify dietary behaviour and foster healthy ageing.
- Provide the tools necessary to push potential business ideas in the market, and design business models that are innovative, consistent and potentially fruitful.

Meet Our Past-Edition Speakers
Entrepreneur, tech advisor, blockchain evangelist, investor and public sector consultant. Co-founder and CEO in tech startups usually linked to sports. Regularly collaborating with local, regional and national governments on blockchain & AI governance policies. Member of Digital Future Society (DFS), a global think tank launched by Mobile World Capital, where it discusses how to apply technology ethically from public innovation.
Originally studying medicine in Scotland, John is a pioneer of the Australasian medical recruitment industry and has over 20 years experience growing his award-winning business, Wavelength International, from two founders to over 100 staff. Moving to Europe in 2012, John worked initially for an equity crowdfunding business focused on raising seed funds for European life sciences start-ups, before launching LUKA BIO with the co-founders in 2019. John provides guidance and mentorship to start-up founders on how to set up their own in-house recruitment capabilities in preparation for growth. His recruitment portfolio includes C-suite, medical and research roles within life sciences. A keen surfer and musician, John lives in Barcelona but travels extensively in Europe, North America and Australia.
Prof. José M. Ordovás
Senior Scientist and Leader of the Nutrition and Genomics Team at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging - Tufts University
Dr. José Ordovás is Senior Scientist and Leader of the Nutrition and Genomics Team at the HNRCA. His research focuses on the genetic factors that predispose individuals to heart disease and obesity as well as the interaction of these genetic factors with the environment and behavioral factors. In particular, Dr. Ordovás examines the impact of diet on genetic factors. He has published well over 780 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written numerous reviews and books on these topics. In this regard, Dr. Ordovás is considered one of the founders of nutrigenomics. Dr. Ordovás embraces new areas of nutrigenomics related to the regulation of gene expression by microRNAs and DNA methylation and the relation between genes, chronobiology and obesity. He and his team are currently studying the APOA2 gene, diet, inflammation, and gut health, as well as populations at high risk for heart disease and the TCF7L2 gene and the dietary prevention of type 2 diabetes. He is a Professor of Nutrition and Genetics at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and Professor at the School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University. Dr. Ordovás also chairs the Functional Genomics Core Scientific Advisory Committee at the same school. Throughout his career, Dr. Ordovás has received multiple honors for his scientific achievements, including the USDA Secretary’s Award, the Centrum American Nutrition Society Award, the Mary Swartz Award (presented by the Dietetic Association,) the Garry-Labbe Award (presented by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry,) and the Francisco Grande Memorial Lecture all for Excellence in Nutrition Research.

Prof. Cristina Andrés-Lacueva
Full Professor at the Nutrition, Food Science & Gastronomy Department of the Pharmacy and Food Science Faculty at the University of Barcelona, ICREA Academia 2018 Coordinator of the BIOMARKERS AND NUTRITIONAL & FOOD METABOLOMICS research group, Member of the Biomedical Research Network on Frailty and Healthy Aging (CIBERFES - isciii)
Her primary research activity is focused on nutritional metabolomics. The group actively collaborates within international teams, and its research lines include the identification of nutritional biomarkers associated with dietary patterns that allow the study of metabotypes, nutritypes and phenotypes associated mainly with the risk of diseases and healthy aging. Dr Andrés-Lacueva is the coordinator of the UB node in competitive projects of the European Community such as Cook2Health, Innovation by Design project and INJOY from the Campus EIT-Health (The European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) Health-Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC). She is an active participant in the EU- Joint Programming Initiative, a Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life, Actions BioNH: Joint action for Biomarkers in Nutrition and Health, FOODBALL; Microbiomics (MAPLE) and Nutrition and Cognition (D-CogPlas), Intimic (DiGuMet and KP), Metadis (CarbQ4Health). Member of the steering committee of PoSITIVE (Plant Bioactives interindividual Variation) COST action. Dr Andres-Lacueva is actively collaborating in projects with industry, in form of direct participation or through CDTI and CIEN projects, as SMARTFOOD. She has published more than 200 scientific articles in international journals JAMA Internal Medicine, Analytical Chemistry, Clinical Chemistry, J Proteome Research, J of Mass Spectrometry, Database, American Jour of Clinical Nutrition, J Endocrinology Articles, Neurobiology on Aging, An. Chimica Acta, J Nutrition among others and 20 book chapters. H-index of 57 (web of Science).
